Sun. (10am-4pm) Jan. 27
Daniel Mack
Brookfield Campus
The noted author and artist, Daniel Mack, will guide students through the process of designing and building with branches, saplings and other natural materials in this special one day workshop. The instructor will introduce ways of thinking about designs which honor both the materials and the artist, and will teach a variety of techniques for joining natural materials together using simple tools. This is a workshop for both the “playful” and the “practical” artistic person. Students will build a 12" high “trophy” chair which has all the mortise and tenon joints and design challenges of larger scale furniture. And for those wanting to escape the tyranny of utility, a supply of bark and driftwood will be provided to shape into rattles, wands, talking sticks, walking sticks, utensils, jewelry and other forms of decoration and adornment.
$165 for members / $190 for nonmembers Plus a Materials Fee of $25
