ANIMA 2013
The Anima are carvings from bark collected along the Hudson River.
They began as an accident.
I had gone hunting for driftwood
and could not find exactly what I wanted and somehow recognized
the many pieces of bark, hiding right there in plain sight. That was in 2004. Now, still, in 2013, they are as interesting and compelling to me as they were nine years ago.
This year, I've continued making them for use outside, perhaps in the changing garden.... where they blend and weather.
and they joined a recent pop-up show, Object Orange
