I've heard from three new people who were at at the 2010 Gathering. This is interesting beacuse there is a certain aura or culture that the rest of us have built up and emitted over these ten+ years... So new people are the canaries in our mine:

Is Gathering air healthy?

Well, from these responses, yes!!, well, yes and ouch, maybe!

Riva Weinstein published a blog about her day at the Woodlanders Gathering.   Her Magic Medicine Blog is always interesting.

John Naylor sent me a letter and some pictures.  He's made several rustic projects, reseated a chair with Shaker tape and a "J" (rocket or downdraft) stove .  He found the talks with Matthew Fallon and Don Moss most enlightening and concludes:

"As to the Gathering-my wife, Kathy thoroughly enjoyed many aspects of the friendly "woodlanders". She and I were impressed with the crafts and skills we observed. Kathy was also involved in the spiritual side of the two days. -I would guess that I enjoyed more of the skill areas and trading craft talk with a few of the attendees...Heartfelt thanks."

Lori Charkey is mailing me a message every few weeks (with a $25 check and some aromatic botanicals and ephemera for cardwork) marking her deep disappointment that she was not able to offer the workshops on Watersheds and Toys she and Mark had planned and prepared:

"from Woodlanders, 2 of 4

But time after time,

tho' we made the ovation,Time came & went

with no sure invitation"

This is not an excuse..but

Lori did ask that any workshops she and Mark do be scheduled in the afternoon, because she was not a AM person. Afternoons are the height of Woodlander's-Gone-Awry

Hmm... what to say?

A similar disappointment was had by Grace Woodard in 2009 when the Bullroarers consumed most of a day, knocking out her Drama Workshop.

It raises the question about the costs of mixing anarchy into the organization of an event... and DanMack's primal reluctance to be the "Organizer"... as the Maternal-Caretaker Archetype.  So I see it as a gender-archetype issue and feedback on this experiment in heterarchy, we call The Woodlanders Gathering.(What the hell does  this mean?? Who wants some in charge who writes like this!!)

Maybe someone, (not DanMack) is designated as  the Go-To Person.Maybe it's just a Tree or Vine that gets to hear about how "we are off schedule!"

Maybe we could use a Gathering "Weaver"--someone who watches and feels the shifting temperatures and air currents and intervenes as s/he sees fit.  David, Jim and Mary seem to do this anyway.

Thoughts?  Maybe someone copies this onto the Facebook Page so responding is easier.

Matt?
